Yiwen joined Lincoln Agritech in January 2020 as a Research Scientist. He works in the Electromagnetic Sensing Team on designing the state-of-the-art microwave devices for sensing the environment and human being.
Yiwen received his MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University (GW), USA, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. He then went on to be a professorial lecturer and postdoctoral scientist at GW. During his PhD and postdoc period, he collaborated with the scientists at NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre on the development of seawater dielectric model and remote sensing of ocean salinity based on satellite data. His research also focused on the scattering model of vegetation canopy and the retrieval of soil moisture from radar measurements.
He is an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and IEEE Young Professionals. He has published over 20 papers in academic conferences and peer-reviewed journals. He is a paper reviewer of IEEE Transaction on Geoscience and Remote Sensing and International Journal of Remote Sensing.
Yiwen’s research interests include:
- Remote sensing using microwave radar or radiometer
- Dielectric measurements
- Electromagnetic modelling
