Simon has worked for Lincoln Agritech since 2008, having completed a work placement there during his Graduate Diploma course. He is currently characterising bacterial genes involved in direct electron transfer pathways and is also screening for inducible promoters that can be used in creating specialised biosensors and microbial fuel cells. He also contributes to molecular biological aspects of a Marsden project that is being carried out by the Bio Protection Research Centre at Lincoln University. Simon received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Korea and completed a Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, following his arrival in New Zealand.
