Nick has a BSc in Microbiology from Canterbury University and joined Lincoln Agritech in 2006. He has contributed towards developing the environmental biosensor, SciTOX™, for rapid BOD and toxicity monitoring. He is the Bioelectrochemistry laboratory manager and currently is working on Lactosenz™, a lactose measuring biosensor, both in the lab and conducting field trials of the prototype instrument. He is also studying towards an MSc in Biochemistry at Lincoln University.
He has particular interests in:
- Direct electron transfer enzyme biosensors adapted to detect specific substrates
- Identification and cultivation of microorganisms with extracellular enzyme production useful in substrate detection and bioconversion
- Liquid handling technology for real time process sampling
